Plants of the alpine tundra
I bet you didn't know that there is actually a lot of plats in the Alpine Tundra. They are able to live here in the Alpine Tundra due to their special features and/or adaptions that they make in order to survive. Here are just a few that you might see while you're on your trip in the Alpine Tundra.
Alpine Wallflower
Scientific Name : Erysimum linifolium
The Alpine Wallflower is a common flower in the Alpine Tundra. It comes in a variety of flowers such as orange, yellow, and purple. This plant has the ability to live in the Alpine Tundra cause its a hardy plant. Marsh Marigold
Scientific Name : Caltha palustris
The marsh marigolds adapt to the harsh weather by going through photosynthesis in the cold weather and then they produce flowers quickly once summer starts. |
Parry's CloverScientific Name : Trifolium parryi
The Parry's Clover is known to be one of the most hardiest plants in the Alpine Tundra. They tend to grow in groups so that they have a greater chance of survival. Blue Columbine
Scientific Name : Aquilegia coerulea
The blue columbine are very hardy flowering plants. They come in a variety of different colors including blue, pink, white, and yellow. They tend to grow at elevations of 6,900 to 12,000 feet up the side of the mountain, which gives them a greater chance of survival because its not as cold. |

Scientific Name : Ranunculus nivalis
The snow buttercup is a flower that tends to grow in larger groups so that they stay alive. They close their pedals in order to survive the harsh winds. Pink Moss campion

Pink Moss Campion is a low, ground-hugging plant, sort of like moss or lichens. It may look very dense and moss like. They like to grow on the windswept rocky ridges and summits above the tree lines. They grow in big groups so that their life expectancy is higher. |
